We’ve had some very cold and clear weather this week, which made for generally stable avalanche conditions and great views. This was the perfect opportunity for us to venture into our new backyard: Ymir bowl. With the sun low this time of year, we chose Southwest facing lines to take full advantage of the beautiful light.

Scob’s knob – December 13

Goat Slide – December 14

We dug a pit and performed a column test and an extended column test on a Southwest facing slope at 2000m.  We got a release on the November 25 rain crust at CT28 for the column test and no release for the ECT.  We were good to go!
